Barack Obama is the 44th President of the U.S.A

I know that this is an anime blog, but this is a special moment in history. Almost 150 years after the Emancipation Proclamation, Barack Obama, an African-American, is the 44th President of the United States of America. There was no repeat of the 2000 Election fiasco, as Obama won by a huge margin of 349 to Senator McCain's 147. Senator McCain was gracious in his defeat, thanking those who voted for him, and that they should show support for Obama in steering the country back on the right track. On the other hand, Obama was humble in his victory, reminding those who voted for him that there are difficult times ahead, and telling those who did not vote for him that he needs their help because he will be their President too.

While I don't agree with now President Obama's ideology on many issues, I do believe that the importance of his victory as an African-American cannot be understated. And I pray that he will make the right decisions for this country.
